When I first started seeing oscillating tool advertisements popup, they were nothing more than vibratory sanders that could get into tight corners. After I started replacing my old lower voltage cordless and corded tools last year with Dewalt 20V Max equivalents, I ran across the DCS356. Still not convinced I needed one, I did some research. First, I looked at all the available accessories that Dewalt offered. I was impressed with all the different cutting and sanding tools, and the things you could do with them. Then I went on to watch a few videos which immediately hooked me on this Dewalt Oscillating tool.
Almost Satisfied –
I got this for the occasions where an oscillating multi-tool is needed since I am already in the DeWalt 20 volt line. I have used it a couple of times and it has performed flawlessly.
I really like the tool-free blade change and the adjustable speeds. I have both of these features on my corded Bosch and really love them.
I like being able to go cordless as it is more convenient since I may not always be near an outlet and an extension cord can get in the way. Ultimately, I do not see this as a replacement for my corded Bosch, but it is a nice addition.
The battery life on this seems good and I like that it is brushless so the battery should last longer and have more power. The only complaint is that the battery that comes with the kit is on the small side, but it does help to keep the weight of the tool down in use. If I need a bigger battery, I can always throw on one of my 5 AH batteries. I would definitely buy this again.

OMG, how have I spent all these years without this tool?!?! I debated getting it for a long time and finally took the plunge. This tool is a total game changer! I use it for all it’s saw features and couldn’t care less about the sanding features, I mean really, that’s what I have palm sanders for. But as a multi saw, it’s amazing! I now pull it out first for so many tasks that I used to have to fight through, and now it’s just zip! It’s done! JUST BUY IT ALREADY!!
